The Tigers played their second pre-season game yesterday against the Springwood Pumas at Lowe Oval under grey skies over six periods again.
The Pumas deck was in pristine condition for the start of the season which set the game up for some fast football.
Despite all the doom and gloom of the forecast the rain held off and both sides were able to trial all of their group over the course of the extended format.
While the Tigers once again held back some of their best players, the young guns showed the way to have the Tigers run out with a comfortable margin albeit that the Pumas were also making best use of the game to run through their squad.
The brothers Quin, Zac and Louis were once again sharp for the Tigers with both of them starting to hit their straps after the long off season. Zac missed the second half of 2022 with an extended holiday through Europe so will be very keen to get back to his early 2022 form. Zac was in contention for the Tigers best and fairest last year despite missing over a third of the season.
Hayden Fry was once again one of the Tigers best in the ruck and around the ground to show he will be a valuable and versatile player for 2023.
Casey Barber continued his form from last week to be creative up forward while Ryan Doolan was able to get on the end of some Tigers attacking raids to kick a few handy majors while new recruit Ben Wilkinson also hit the scoreboard multiple times to be very useful.
Veteran Danny Evans has lost none of his best 2022 form performing a very strong role in the middle for the Tigers running out for most of the six quarters.
The Tigers will have a week off now to freshen up for Round 1 against the Moreton Bay Lions at Red Rooster Park, Burpengary on Saturday 25th March 2023.
