February’s been a big month at Tigerland!
Welcome, it would be fair to say that there has been a lot happening at the Den over the past couple of weeks. Our preseason preparations are taking shape both on and off the field, featuring some very significant upgrades to our club. On field, the commitment of the playing group continues with strong numbers at training for all teams at every session. Watching the recent match simulations, it’s clear to see that the benefits of the fitness program are evident with noticeable increases in players speed and endurance. Preseason practice matches have been organised for all grades, starting with a visit to Sherwood for the Seniors and Reserves on March 4th, the Women’s team will play Redcliffe on Friday night March 17th and the Thirds are scheduled to play Ferny Grove.
The 2023 season competition fixtures have been launched for the Seniors and Reserves, while the Thirds and Women’s draws are being finalised and will be launched in the very near future.
Off field, our clubhouse renovations remain on track to be completed by mid-March. The landscaping project out the front of the clubhouse to improve the spectator area will also be completed within the next month. Upgrades to our scoreboard are taking shape with a digital scoreboard being ordered. While progress on the Timekeepers box is being made with the plans being finalised. In addition, the club is partnering with the Wolves to upgrade the coaches boxes on oval 2, this is scheduled as a project for later this year.
Last week we launched our annual player sponsorship campaign which provides vital funds for the operation of our club. Details of this are on our website and further information can be obtained by contacting myself of Russell Ditchburn.
Recently, the club launched an online “Tiger Shop” which allows our players and supporters to purchase their Tiger merchandise in a click and collect format. Simply visit our website www.MayneTigers.com.au and click on the Tiger Shop button.
As the season approaches there are still some key positions that we need to fill that we would welcome assistance with. We are needing the services of a Team Manager for the Seniors and coaching staff to assist with the Thirds. Please let me know if you are interested in helping the club out with these important roles.
Finally, we have locked in our first major social event of 2023 – The Season Launch- this will be held on Saturday evening of March 11th at the Transcontinental Hotel – Roma Street. I look forward to seeing you then.
You can get a lot more detail about all these exciting developments and news snippets in this week's Tiger Rag on this website in the Newsletters section.
