And so this is Christmas for 2024 bringing a close to the Centenary Year for the Mayne Tigers.
It has been a year well celebrated to mark the very big milestone of this wonderful club and it was a very successful one both on and off the field.
The remarkable end to the season delivered the 19th Senior Premiership for the club after making the finals 5 years in a row.
The Reserve Grade premiership was another unexpected surprise with all the pundits tipping the Kings to be too strong but for the second year in a row they were proved wrong. The Reserves went back to back to win their 7th Premiership from 9 grand finals and 11 finals campaigns in a row. The Reserves have now won 22 Premierships.
It was the fourth season for the Women’s program which saw an increase in participation and plenty of fun had by all.
The Third Grade recorded strong numbers and a high level of competition in a league that continues to grow.
The formal Centenary celebrations were an outstanding success with the Hall of Fame night having an attendance of 400 Tigers from all the eras of the club’s history. There were 270 people and entities inducted with over 170 represented on the night either in person or by their descendant. It was certainly the largest gathering of Mayne Tigers in forty years.
The Mick Nolan Reunion Day was the biggest ever with all teams playing on the Sunday and a chance for the whole club to get involved.
The Mayne Past Players and Supporters Group continued their important contribution to supporting the club involvement with the following projects:
Club history was updated with a new book “Feel the Roar” and a Historical Display Banner documenting the club’s many heroes, villains and milestones.
The club benefited from a new playing surface and timekeepers’ facility being built while replacement coaches boxes for oval 2 are being built.
The club wishes to thank all our Committee, coaching staff, volunteers, sponsors and supporters for their efforts in contributing to and participating in an incredible year.
We also wish everyone a very Merry and Safe Christmas and we will look forward to another exciting year in 2025.
