Mayne Football Club

Mayne AFC

Footy is Back

The long Pre-Season is nearly at an end with the first of three practice matches to take place next week on Saturday 5th March 2022 at the Noosa Tigers home ground at Weyba Road commencing at 2.00pm.

The Mayne Tigers haven’t met their old rivals since the 2020 Grand Final with the Sunshine Coast branch of the family moving up to the QAFL for the 2021 Season following on from their Premiership win.

The Noosa Club didn’t have their best season in 2021 to launch their foray into the higher grade but by all reports they have recruited well including bringing in a new coach at the helm. Being the proud club they are they will be champing at the bit for some more success in 2022 so they won’t be letting their old rivals off the hook. Our boys have been toiling hard over the long wet summer and will be similarly looking for a chance to see how they fare against the team from the QAFL.

The Mayne Squad has a new look to it with some retirements from 2021, some players going home and a few very handy new faces to add to the mix including some young up and comers who will be looking to break into the top team.

Head Coach Josh Duffy has been very pleased with the work rate of his squad with good numbers in the gym as well as on the track with a gruelling summer programme administered by Resistance Sports Science.

The Practice Matches will continue with the Seniors and Reserves playing Wilston Grange on the 12th March 2022 at 2.00pm and 12.00pm respectively at Wilston Grange. The final practice match will be against Division 1 newcomers Wynnum on the 19th March 2022 with the Seniors and Reserves both on show. The Venue is yet to be confirmed as we wait to see if the Den is required by Ashgrove Cricket for finals.

The Hart Sport QFA Div 1 draw is now on the AFLQ website with Round 1 being a Home game against the Springwood Pumas on 2nd April 2022.
