Mayne Football Club
Mayne AFC
Centenary Year 2024
The Mayne Tigers recognised and celebrated their centenary in 2024 in grand style.
We are proud to be the first AFL club in Queensland to celebrate their centenary.
The club was commenced in humble beginnings in 1924 with a premiership in the junior competition and after a rollicking 100 year ride, enjoyed their nineteenth senior premiership in 2024 to cap off a remarkable year. This was the Tigers fourth in the previous eleven years and was enjoyed together with our seventh Reserve Grade Premiership in the previous eleven years.
The Tigers have been very fortunate to have a range of wonderful people who have kept some extraordinary records of the club’s exploits over this long period. Club Historian Bob Gower wrote and published “From Glory to Heartbreak” in 2011 providing a detailed record of the club from the beginning and a further companion book “Feel the Roar” detailing the period from 2011 to 2024 has been written and published by Richard Fell, Russell Ditchburn and Bob Gower as a Centenary project which completes the 100 year history of the club.
A Hall of Fame was established in 2024 for the first time in the club’s history which recognised 273 people, places and events from across the decades that contributed to making the Mayne Tigers one of the most successful clubs in Queensland football.
Reunion activities in 2024 were some of the largest celebrations that the Tigers have ever enjoyed and the club remains a strong and thriving entity as it heads into it’s second century.
The following documents provide a record of the club’s key events and activities in 2024.
